SA National Parks Week 2026: Free Access Dates Announced
SANParks has confirmed that the 21st annual SA National Parks Week will take place from 7 to 13 September 2026, offering free day access to local visitors.
Celebrate Heritage with Free Park Access
South African National Parks (SANParks) has officially announced the dates for the 21st annual SA National Parks Week. From 7 to 13 September 2026, South African citizens will have the opportunity to enjoy free day access to most national parks across the country. This initiative is designed to encourage locals to explore the natural beauty and biodiversity of their own backyard.
What You Need to Know
To take advantage of this offer, visitors must present a valid South African identity document at the park gates. Children under the age of 18 do not require identification. It is important to note that this free access applies strictly to day visits. Accommodation, guided game drives, and other paid activities remain subject to standard pricing.
Participating Parks
Whether you are looking to explore the rugged landscapes of the Kruger National Park, the floral displays in the West Coast National Park, or the iconic Table Mountain National Park, there is a destination for everyone. SANParks encourages visitors to plan their trips in advance, as this remains one of the most popular conservation awareness campaigns in the country. Last year, the initiative saw over 100,000 visitors, and high turnout is expected again this year.
