Explore SA National Parks for Free This September
South African National Parks (SANParks) is hosting its 21st annual National Parks Week from 7 to 13 September 2026, offering free day access to citizens.
Celebrate Heritage with Free Park Access
As part of the annual Tourism Month celebrations, SANParks has announced that the 21st annual SA National Parks Week will run from 7 to 13 September 2026. This initiative aims to foster a culture of conservation and encourage South Africans to explore the country's natural heritage.
Important Visitor Information
- Eligibility: The offer is valid for South African day visitors only. Adults must present a valid South African ID, while children under 18 do not require identification.
- Exclusions: Free access applies to conservation fees only. Accommodation, guided game drives, and other paid activities remain subject to standard rates.
- Specific Park Rules: While most parks participate for the full week, the Kruger National Park, West Coast National Park, and Augrabies Falls National Park will limit free access to weekdays only (7–11 September).
- Exclusions: Please note that the Boulders Penguin Colony and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway are excluded from this initiative.
Plan Your Visit
With over 105,000 visitors participating in last year's campaign, parks are expected to be busy. Visitors are encouraged to check the official SANParks website for specific entry conditions and potential visitor limits at their chosen destination before traveling.
